There is an epidemic in America right now and it is Illegal Immigration. Contrary to what most people believe, being in American illegally is not a crime. It is a civil matter.

Arizona and Alabama have enacted legislation to combat this issue because the Federal government has failed to protect our Borders. They have allowed all these people who have come in the country illegally to apply for government assistance, in state tuition and they don't have to pay taxes. They crowd our Hospitals ER's with non-emergency complaints and never pay for the services which in turn increases medical cost for everyone else.

This is not fair to honest immigrants who go through the proper channels to come here and be law abiding citizens.

America is the only country that rewards those who are here illegally and punishes those who are here legally. It is time that we in Mississippi start enacting legislation that will protect Mississippi.

Drug testing for those who recieve government benifets

There is a call from the people of Mississippi that those who receive Government Assistance be drug tested before receiving Benefits and then to be randomly tested.

I agree with this idea. Any job that you go to will require you to be drug tested for illegal substances before being able to be hired. I see no problem with testing those who receive benefits. It is actually practical. When you are on government benefits, such as TANF, Food stamps, and W.I.C., you are supposed to also be looking for a job.

With this policy, I would support that anyone who tested positive for any non-prescribed controlled substance be barred from receiving government benefits for a minimum of 2 years before they could reapply.

Also, anyone who is on Government Assistance should be required to search for a job turning in a minimum of 6 job applications a month and required to accept any suitable job offers that would not create an undue hardship. They would be required to turn in a worksheet of jobs they applied for signed of by the manager of the places theyhave turned in applications or had interviews.

My name is Boyd Kendall and I am Running for House District 109.

I believe in the vision set forth by our Forefathers. A country where we are free to speak our minds without and worship as we see fit. A country were we have the right to keep and bear arms for everything from hunting to the defense of our country self. A country where the government is limited, not over reaching.
I believe in our country where we are allowed to own our own property. A place where we can work for ourselves. Were we can make our own future anyway we want, where everyone has the opportunity of a good education if they want it.
I believe our tax dollars she be accounted for and used for the defense of our freedoms, not as government handouts. Used to build infrastructures, not bail out day traders who mismanaged there accounts.
I believe that the state needs to live within its means by creating a budget that, not only is balanced but also creates savings that can be used to pay down the states current debt and also used for natural disasters.
As a legislator I plan on introducing and supporting measures that will move Mississippi forward and to become a leader in the Nation. A state that other states look to when considering there own issues. A state that others model themselves after.

Education

The Future of America rest within the Education system. Unfortunately the education system is not what it needs to be. Currently, most of the education budget goes to administrators instead of the children and the teachers. We need to streamline the current education system. We need to focus on the students and increasing there educational opportunities. If we were to take all school systems and incorporate them into a county system we could save millions of dollars in administrative cost and use that money on the students.

Currently in Mississippi we spend on average $9,498 per student. This is more than enough to give a good education. When you look at spending on students in other countries like Japan and China they spend less per student and yet there students out perform our students on every level.

Why is That?
One reason this is true is due to Tenure. We have an educational system that protects teachers from being able to be fired for poor performance after they have been there for so long. Don't get me wrong there are many Good teachers out there who love there Jobs and are good at teaching it, but you still have many teachers who show up, give an assignment and never open there book to teach.
We need to implement a system of Grading teachers based on there performance. Teachers who do not meet the grade get the opportunity to find another career. In other words if you don't teach, you don't get paid.

Revolving Door.

Todays Criminal Justice system has become a revolving door of rewards for the criminaly inclined. Most law abiding citizens look at the correctional system as a punishment for those who commit crimes. That they are locked behind bars and punished for there crime. Instead the truth of the matter is that they are sent to a correctional facility where they are guarnteed a bed, three hot meals, a roof over there head. Also the vast majority of inmates enjoy free cable, a tv in there room, coffee maker, a game system and a stereo. They never have to work, they given educational oppertunites that most people will never have and all this is supported with tax payer money.

The sad fact of the matter is that most of the criminaly inclined are treated way better than our vets are that are coming back from over seas defending our country. This is a system of rewards for commiting a crime. We need to reform the criminal justice system so that it is no longer a reward and it becomes a real punishment. As long as we treat criminals better than vets crime will continue to go up. We need to make prison a strong deterent.
